Originally from Jacksonville, AR, Kris Allen – a Top 36 semifinalist on season eight of “American Idol” (Fox, 2002- ) – was a student at the University of Central Arkansas. He has been singing and playing the guitar since he was 13 years old. Ending up a bit of a dark horse, Allen made it through each week with a growing fan base who appreciated his unique take on simple arrangements and crisp, clear vocals.
