Beautiful, radiant, iconic ... there are just not enough words to describe Hollywood's Pretty Woman and America's sweetheart, Julia Roberts. She has entered the Hollywood history books with her big eyes, beaming smile and lovable laugh, and we're not sure anyone will ever take her place. In recent years, Julia has taken time away from the camera to play the role of mother of three, but lately she's been back in the public eye promoting Duplicity and looking as gorgeous as ever.

Julia did not enter the spotlight with a developed fashion sense. Her first red carpet forays included ill-fitting suits and dresses paired with unflattering shoes -- ensembles that were unattractive even for the '80s. Well into the '90s, Julia kept up her pant obsession and was often spotted at premieres in something black or leather.

But as Julia's stardom grew so did her knowledge of fashion. She dropped the pant look and upgraded to more elegant styles. She also discovered her go-to look, which she stills relies on today -- the classic, slim fitting black gown. In 2001, Julia took the look to new heights when she took home the Oscar in a vintage Valentino black and white gown. It's her most memorable look to this day.

When she's not walking the red carpet, Julia dresses the part of full-fledged mom and wife. Her casual side is all jeans and t-shirts, which she sometimes dresses up with cropped jackets or scarves.

Julia prefers subtle makeup, but to get her look, we suggest making your eye looks bigger without going overboard on the liner. As for hair, even though she is a natural blonde, Julia's signature look is big, red, curly locks. If you can't achieve enough volume to pull off this style, go for her more modern choice of long waves parted down the middle. If it's her red carpet look you are wishing to emulate, Julia's no-fail evening hairstyle is a smooth and sleek updo.

Julia Roberts became a star overnight, but it took her years to develop the style of one. She eventually found her way, combining classic glamour and relaxed, approachable style, and that's what keeps us watching this Hollywood icon.
