Good-looking with an almost impish grin, and often cast in "sensitive" roles, Josh Charles discovered his love for performing at age eight, doing stand-up comedy in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland, before making his feature debut in local hero John Waters' "Hairspray" (1988).
