With only $8,000 to finance his first feature, “Blood, Guts, Bullets and Octane” (1999), writer-director Joe Carnahan made a big impact, both with critics and at film festivals, establishing himself as a new force to be reckoned with. Born on May 9, 1969 in Algonac, MI, Carnahan spent his formative years in the Detroit suburb before his family picked up and moved to Sacramento, CA when he was young.
