Former production assistant (on Warren Beatty's "Heaven Can Wait" 1978) who tried screenwriting before working as director of development at Blum and Ganz, an independent production company based at Disney. Lieberman moved to Universal in 1987, where he promptly rose through the executive ranks in the studio's production division. He has supervised the making of such films as "Problem Child" (1990) and "Fried Green Tomatoes" (1991) and has overseen Universal's involvement in several collaborations with Imagine Pictures Entertainment.
