Is George Clooney coming back to ER?

Former ER co-star Noah Wyle tells TV Guide that Clooney is willing to reprise his role as Dr. Doug Ross for the long-running hospital drama's final season -- "schedule permitting."

Ha! As if Clooney has time to return to television in between sailing around Lake Como and saving Darfur. Not to mention breaking up and getting back together with his girlfriends. Krista Allen, we are talking to you.

Clooney's rep said, predictably, no comment.

Which raises the question: What about Julianna Margulies? Surely, a return visit to the ER by Dr. Ross wouldn't be complete without an appearance from nurse Carol Hathaway. Maybe Margulies can tear herself away from her new baby and hottie real-life husband to film a scene or two.

Meantime, Wyle also spilled the beans about Eriq La Salle "definitely" returning to ER as Dr. Peter Benton. Lacks the celebrity factor of Clooney, but we'll take it.
