After more than 10 years of television production experience, Kelly moved through a series of production and executive positions at KABC-TV in Los Angeles. Making a move to Paramount Pictures in 1983, he played an active role in programming, eventually becoming executive vice president of Paramount's Domestic TV Division in 1989. Among the shows Kelly has been involved with are "The Arsenio Hall Show", "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Maury Povich Show".
