At the age of 18, Louis 'Duke' Goldstone moved from his home in Omaha, Nebraska to Hollywood. He began his entertainment career as a property man at Universal Studios and later became an editor and director at Paramount, RKO and Pathe, working mostly on short films. Goldstone worked for Swift-Chaplin productions, directing classic animated commercials featuring memorable characters such as the Jolly Green Giant, Speedy Alka-Seltzer, and the Hamm's Bear.
