The daughter of film producer-turned-journalist Dominick Dunne and ranching heiress Ellen Griffin, she was a feisty presence in her TV appearances and in “Poltergeist,” where her anguished, terrified cry of “What’s happening?” in the film’s final moments perfectly encapsulated the reaction of the characters and the audience to the film’s onslaught of terror.
