Not since Sean Penn played the surfer/stoner dude Spicoli in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” (1982) had a relatively unknown actor stolen a teen movie as effortlessly as Christopher Mintz-Plasse did in Judd Apatow’s summer sleeper hit, “Superbad” (2007). As Fogell, the skinny nerd with nerves of steel, Mintz-Plasse looked like Clark Kent but thought he was Superman. And like that bifurcated character, Fogell also had an alter ego – the super-smooth ladies man McLovin – whose pitch-perfect name became a pop icon plastered on T-shirts, bumper stickers, and computer screensavers the world over
