Chloe Sevigny showed her second clothing collection for Opening Ceremony last week with a sure-fire marketing ploy: It's unisex. It's a fine idea for men and women to share clothes in these tough economic times, but we're not really sure what that means in the mind of Chloe Sevigny. She used the phrase "gay lumberjack" in describing her line.
Despite our initial fears, the clothing is inventive and fresh. The pieces are more easily digested if worn separately, but they will still make a bold statement. Chloe's piece de resistance, in our opinion, is the pair of loose leggings that look as though they were sleeves of Fair Isle sweaters. If those are fleeced lined, I can't imagine a comfier pair of pants for winter months. Now why hasn't Ralph Lauren whipped up a pair and coupled them with a big western leather belt?
