Britney Spears turned 27 today and celebrated by releasing her new album, Circus, announcing a world tour and performing on Good Morning America, her first U.S. performance since the great VMA debacle of '07.

Britney "sang" her new single, "Circus," as well as "Womanizer," in a big top-themed performance complete with clowns, jugglers and a ring of fire. She sported a ringmaster look, a top hat and leather pants, before changing into knee-high boots, hot pants and a midriff top.

Following the performance, Diane Sawyer and the Good Morning America team presented Britney with a cake and pre-taped birthday messages from Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Jackman and Taylor Swift.

The world tour was announced to a screaming crowd that included her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears, and her sons, Preston and Jayden. The tour will kick off in New Orleans on March 3, 2009. The 27-city itinerary includes Atlanta, Miami, Boston, Houston, Dallas, Minneapolis, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and tickets go on sale starting December 6.
