biography

Former graphic artist and librettist who co-scripted (mostly with Lajos Biro) several outstanding Alexander Korda productions of the 1930s, notably "The Private Life of Henry VIII" (1932) and "The Four Feathers" (1939). After sharing an Oscar for his work on "Mrs. Miniver" (1940), Wimperis worked chiefly in Hollywood, on films including "Random Harvest" (1943) and "Young Bess" (1953).
