biography
A blandly handsome, intense lead of stage and screen, Andrew McCarthy made his name appearing in a number of coming-of-age films during the 1980s, most notably "Class" (1983), his debut film, in which he coupled with the comely mother of his roommate (Rob Lowe), "Heaven Help Us" (1985), a funny evocation of Catholic high school life, and "St. Elmo's Fire" (1985), which boasted a Who's Who of mid-80s young Hollywood later dubbed 'The Brat Pack' by the media.
