Andrew Adamson began his career as a budding digital animator in his native New Zealand during the 1980s, but his rise in Hollywood paralleled developments in the CGI technology and a style of family entertainment that would become his calling card. With a whimsical graphic sensibility as well as an ear for story and dialogue appealing to both kids and their parents, Adamson went on to earn an Oscar for the $500 million grossing “Shrek” (2001), topping himself by bringing in nearly twice as much for the sequel, “Shrek 2” (2004).
