Dancer Alex Mazo moved to America from Russia with his family when he was 12 years old. His mother ran a dance studio, and today Alec runs two ballroom dance schools - one in San Francisco Bay Area and another in Los Angeles, CA. Among his personal accomplishments were winning the Emerald Ball Latin Amateur Champion, 1st Place in the 2001 International Grand Ball (San Francisco), 1st Place in the 2001 Holiday Ball (Las Vegas, NV) and was the 6 times US National Finalist for Latin Amateur. During his "Dancing with the Stars" (ABC, 2005- ) tenure, Mazo won season one with actress Kelly Monaco.
