Tall, with a full-boned face and a mass of well-combed dark hair, Alan Thicke survived one of the most publicized debacles in the annals of 1980s television--the failure of his "Thicke of the Night" late-night syndicated talk show--to find success as the star of TV sitcoms and as host of numerous TV specials. Actually, Thicke has had numerous careers.
