Dawn Taylor

Bio: Dawn reviewed her first film, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, at age 9, pronouncing it "not without charm, but such a deviation from the book that only hardcore Dick Van Dyke lovers will succumb to its treacly charms," and has continued to take a similarly jaundiced view of popular movies ever since.

Born and raised in Southern California, Dawn failed at virtually everything she did until she moved to Portland, Oregon, where she doesn't have to get a tan and can drink all the coffee she wants. She began her writing career when, like the teenage Lana Turner, she was discovered at Schwab's soda fountain and groomed for stardom. Except that it wasn't 1937, it was 1997. And Dawn was working at Starbucks.

But still, she was groomed. Her professional career has included stretches toiling in community news, several years writing for the seminal film-review website DVD Journal, and a position as film critic for the Portland Tribune. Dawn vehemently denies that everything she does in life is part of her plan to get Brendan Fraser to notice her.

A favorite quote: "This movie doesn't scrape the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn't the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn't below the bottom of the barrel. This movie doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with barrels." -- Roger Ebert on Freddie Got Fingered

Imaginary boyfriends: Alan Rickman, Eddie Izzard, Ian McShane
