Bio: Charlie Toft is an Ohio-based writer and critic who won statewide awards for literary criticism before being seduced by the dark side, also known as television. He has written for USA Today on the subject of American Idol. Particular loves, some more unrequited than others, include the fiction of James Ellroy and Jose Saramago, the music of Bruce Springsteen and Miranda Lambert, Scarlett Johansson when she's not trying to sing, World War I documentaries, any scene on Ugly Betty where they give Becki Newton something to do, and The Ohio State University. He listens to all disagreements respectfully, as long as your grammar is up to par.
